Phoenix Surgery wants everyone to be able to use our services.
Some people need extra help when they come to the GP.
This is called a reasonable adjustment.
We will do our best to help you.
What is a reasonable adjustment?
A reasonable adjustment is a small change we can make to help you:
- Use our services
- Understand information
- Feel safe and supported
This is your right under the Equality Act 2010.
Who can ask for help?
You can ask for a reasonable adjustment if you:
- Have a disability
- Have a long-term health condition
- Have a learning disability
- Are autistic
- Have mental health needs
- Find it hard to communicate
- Need extra support for any reason
How we can help
We may be able to help by:
- Giving you more time in appointments
- Explaining things clearly and slowly
- Offering telephone or online appointments if suitable
- Letting you bring a carer, family member, or support person
- Offering a quieter place to wait, if possible
- Helping you contact us in a way that works for you
How to ask for a reasonable adjustment
You can tell us by:
- Speaking to the reception team
- Calling the surgery
- Using our online services
- Talking to your GP or nurse
We can write your needs in your medical record so all staff know how to help you.
Our promise to you
- We will listen to you
- We will treat you with respect
- We will try to help in a way that is safe and fair
If we cannot do exactly what you ask, we will talk to you about other ways to help.
If you are not happy
If you are worried or unhappy, please ask to speak to the Practice Manager.
We want to make things better.
